Samantha Godbey is a three-time WVU graduate and has a Bachelors Degree in International Studies and Geography (2008), a Masters Degree in Political Science (2010), and a PhD in Political Science (2018). Dr. Godbey passed comprehensive exams in American Public Policy, International Relations, and Comparative Politics. Her Dissertation "The Policy Dynamics of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (2000)" studies the creation and implementation of the United States first anti-trafficking domestic and foreign policy legislation in modern times. The three chapters of her dissertation track media attention, congressional action, and the international diffusion of the policy.
Dr. Godbey also runs the WVU Policy Debate Team which is sanctioned by the Cross Examination Debate Association, the American Debate Association, and the National Debate Tournament.
