Political Science Advising

The Department of Political Science advisors are students' best resource for navigating department courses, major requirements, career guidance, internships, scholarships, and department events.

Our advisors consist of faculty, graduate students, and full-time staff and are well-equipped to assist students in progressing through our program.

For students in the Political Science major: your advisor can help you build a class schedule, prepare for careers and education after graduation, and meet major, college, and university requirements for graduation.

For students interested in the major or minors: our office can walk you through course requirements, assist you in making changes to your curriculum, or answer any other questions about the Department.

Advising Assignments

All students in the Political Science major are assigned a faculty advisor when they join the major or after the end of their Freshman year.

If you do not know who your assigned faculty advisor is, please check Degree Works (Classic) through the WVU Portal and your advisor's name should be visible in the top block next to "Advisor."

If you do not have an assigned advisor or the person listed is not a faculty member in the Political Science department, please contact Joshua Harman at Joshua.Harman@mail.wvu.edu for an assignment or other assistance.
