Donley Studlar served as the first Eberly Family Distinguished Professor of Political Science, 1993-2013, where he taught undergraduate students as well as chairing to completion 16 PhD dissertations, several from international students.  A recognized international scholar, he is a two-time Fulbright award recipient. During his career he has served on the faculty of various universities, including Nebraska, Centre, Oklahoma State, East Tennessee State, Aarhus, Victoria, Regina, Toronto, Warwick, Australian National, and Strathclyde. Studlar earned a Ph.D. and M.A. at Indiana University and a B.A. at Texas Tech University.  His specialties are Comparative Politics and Public Policy.  He served as Executive Secretary of the British Politics Group, President of the Canadian Politics Section of APSA, and on the Test Development Committee for the AP Political Science Exam. He has published five books, 88 refereed articles, and 53 other articles in journals such as the American Political Science Review, British Journal of Political Science, American Journal of Political Science, Journal of Politics, and Comparative Political Studies. Among the topics on which he has written are immigration policy, gender representation, electoral behavior, morality policy, and tobacco control policy. His most recent article is “Understanding Big Government” in Michael Keating et al. (eds) The Problem of Governing: Essays for Richard Rose. London: Palgrave Macmillan, 2023.
